Me on Citta Bella April 09

Read my review on travel: Venice, Italy on Citta Bella April 2009. If your Chinese is good enough!! And your eyesight is better than perfect haha...just grab the magazine lah!

The Importance of Being Earnest

Oooh, I feel bad for Soupolos. After actually paying Maus to have sex with his wife (when he would have done it for free), he finds out that the neighbour is in the same boat of infertility. And Maus, thinking he was having the party of his life, suddenly finds out he has been cuckolded. Poor neighbour's wifey could have confessed earlier and saved all the drama....is this enough fodder for a new Bollywood movie or what?!

How could you tell that this was printed on an Indian newspaper? "When Traute failed to get pregnant after six months, however, Soupolos was not understanding, and insisted..." Hahahahah...lol...typical Mind Your Language joke.

Political Jokes

The Week's Best Late-Night Jokes

"How many watched President Obama's news conference last night?
He got a little testy there, you know.
When he was asked why he waited three days to speak out against the AIG bonuses,
Obama said he likes to know what he's talking about before he speaks.
So, yet another reversal of the Bush policies." --Jay Leno

"Obama was on TV saying Americans are angry.
We are angry, but we don't want a press conference.
We want to see Obama pelting AIG executives with a sock full of quarters shouting,
"Here's change we can believe in!" --Craig Ferguson

"The market rallied yesterday after the Treasury said it was going
to help banks sell off their toxic assets.
That's the big problem, banks can't sell toxic assets.
Well, duh. I mean, I'm no economist,
but maybe you should stop calling them toxic assets. Huh?
Isn't that like KFC advertising salmonella chicken?" --Jay Leno

Hope you enjoyed that...it's the financial crisis but lighten up, keep your chin up and ride through it all.

Juicy . Couture. Canine.

Thanks to the organizers of the Juicy Couture Fragrance event for these photos. And let's also mention the dog goodies and free fragrance that we each got. I think Tiger looks cool strutting Orchard Road. Although he seems to be straining forward. Maybe he can't wait to finish the whole stretch. You probably can't tell from the photos but I'm exhausted from playing tug of war. You'd also notice that Tiger was the biggest dog of them all!!

The last photo features Maliboo and her very pretty mommy, Peggy. Tiger has the hots for Maliboo...couldn't keep his nose off her butt. Notty Tiger! There's also this princess-sy shih tzu called Cotton in the centre of the first picture. He's a pampered little brat! But cute as a button.

AND....catch more of us in action this 5th April Sunday at East Coast Park, near the Laguna Food Centre: Pets Corner Passion By The Beach 2009 Programme.

We're taking part in the Obedience Contest at 1pm! Will update with pictures soon. Hopefully Tiger gets a prize!

TCC Outlet at Scotts

Came across this The Coffee Connoisseur outlet at International Building, beside Isetan Scotts. Lurrve the 40s-inspired look. The vintage metal facade, the chandeliers and the draped curtains really created the cosy small-town look. Perfect for a first date i think.

And yes, the food actually tastes quite good for a cafe. That's besides the point that the coffee can satisfy finicky coffee drinkers.

Juicy Launch and SPCA tieup

Yeah, so this is the event Tiger had been waiting for. He cross-dressed for a day in the name of charity. See him in those disgusting, saccharine fuschia ruffles? Some aesthetically-challenged off-colour designed painstakingly glued pieces of these onto an otherwise decent leash. The 'craftsman' even left a needle in Tiger's collar, as I found out later.

Anyway I thought the objectives of the event weren't met. Nobody knew it was for SPCA. We didn't get to solicit donations. We had to wait an hour for the walk to start. The dogs were panting hard even before we began. All we did was walk around Orchard Road in the hot sun, posing for pictures now and then, and become a mobile petting zoo. (Erm, we're talking about the dogs, not the girls) Some freaking people even thought that the dogs were up for adoption.

And yes btw, I'd like to thank whoever it is for dropping that bow-on-the-hairband idea. One on the left breast is really enough, thank you.

Juicy Couture Fragrance Launch

ANNOUNCEMENT

Launch of Juicy Couture Fragrances & Tie up with SPCA

When: 14 March 09, Saturday
Time: 2.30 to 6pm
Where: Orchard Road, Ngee Ann City

Juicy is here! Unfortunately, just the perfumes. I adore their colourful/bling bling/terry and velour bag culture and the brand's penchant for dogs and furry slippers.

Tiger and myself will be volunteering for this event. We will be parading in ridiculous outfit where I will don 2 BIG BOWS, one on my pink tee and another on my hairband; and fishnet gloves (!) Tiger will have something more mundane.

We will be trotting along the stretch of Orchard Road collecting donations for SPCA and to create awareness for animal welfare. If you donate, I will give you a coupon for a FREE SAMPLE of the fragrance. Do come down and catch in me a once-in-lifetime fashion disaster. You will get to pet Tiger for FREE. I will not even charge you!

Sign up on Face Book for this event, then cross your heart and promise to support yah...

Hermes Store Display

I was passing Hermes at Liat Towers, Singapore when this window display really caught my eye with its striking creativity and intricacies. You can see in the last enlarged picture that the car is is made of small little pieces of tiles/mosaic. And the way it 'crashed' through the wall is really cool. Who cares about the leather bags when the display looks so artsy-fartsy!

What to Feed Your Hedgehogs

Ever wondered what hedgehogs eat? Yup, the little cuties eat mealworms. How gross! haha.
Anyway, if you are thinking of keeping hedgies, you can feed them a diet of:
  • Mainly cat food, premium quality. They eat so little, they won't eat you out of land and house....so buy the best.
  • Supplement with mealworms. One or two per day for the protein is good enough. Buy the freeze-dried types like above. There have been concerns that the real ones are too feisty for them to eat but that's debatable.
  • Get some fibre into their diet. Feed fruits and vegetables. Share your fresh fruits! Just bite off a chuck for them.
  • Some meat. Strictly non-marinated. Chicken meat is appreciated. I tried beef but they didn't seem very enthusiastic about it.
  • Live insects. If you find an ant or two, prompt the hedgies to have a nibble.

That being said, if you try a new kind of food and realise they don't like it, try again. These creatures are fickle eaters. They change their minds about food all the time. Mine didn't touch the mealworms for a while. Then they discovered how yummy and crunchy worms were. From then on, mealworms to them are like ice cream to kids!
